Set up blog. Check.
This is my first time writing a blog, are there rules? I leave for Moscow
in 6 hours and forty minutes. But who’s counting? Things that I am worried about right now-
will my suitcase make weight? Do I have
enough clothes? Am I forgetting
anything? Can we just leave for the
airport already?! My brother is over right now, taking a nap because he couldn’t deal with me weighing my suitcase for
the 16th time. He wrote me
the most beautiful letter and left it on my computer table for me to find. It made all of my normal sister feelings of
wanting to strangle him disappear while my heart melted. I hope my absence will help him find what he’s
looking for. But in the meantime, I am overjoyed to be
traveling and it’s happening! Tonight! When I first dreamt about going to The
Hilberry for grad school, this is what I was most excited for: The opportunity to study abroad in Moscow,
Russia. And
now here it is. I’ve prepared my journal
with responses to readings. I’ve
carefully selected every item I crammed in my bags. I’ve checked my list 50 times. I’m as ready as I’ll ever be! My friends who have taken this trip
have given me such valuable advice and tips…I listened to every single one of
them. I did buy new shoes though despite
Pants’ warning, but I also brought a blister kit, so, bam. I’m also fully prepared to say, “You were
right, Rob.” Everyone had one common
thread of advice: “See everything, no
matter how tired you are, see every single show you are physically able.” Deal! Fight leaves Detroit 9:40pm. Next post, I'll be in Moscow! Holy sh*t (I'm I allow to swear?)
P.S- I really really really wish I knew an ounce of Russian
right now.
